Many of our readers will have attended one or more of our online Arts at the Intersection events, which bring together communities and individuals to create wellbeing and friendship. Arts at the Intersection is a project of Spirit of Peace, in partnership with Unity Music and Art for Health.
In July 2021, we launched a crowdfunding campaign to enable us to buy equipment and offer bursaries for outdoor events. We are very grateful to Sofia Di Adamo for starting this campaign on our behalf.
The campaign is now completed, and we are very thankful to everyone who contributed.
Our second Open House Event with the theme ‘New Roots’ took place on Sunday 26th July 2020. We were very pleased that a Syrian classical guitarist living locally was able to take part in this event. By popular request we had a presentation on Palestinian Dabke dance and a video presentation on Palestinian hospitality. We again had a session of participatory art, this time using the imagery of trees and roots. On the right is a picture produced by one of the participants inspired by the event.
We were delighted to launch the first Arts at the Intersection Open House event in partnership with Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees, Sevenoaks Unitarians, Unity Music and Art for Health. The event was originally planned to take place in Sevenoaks to bring different cultures within the community.
Due to Covid-19, we produced an online event, which also enabled people from across the UK and abroad to attend. The warmth and connection participants experienced during the event was stunning.
